If you’re coming here to explore the Amish culture you shouldn’t expect to see ADT Security systems or high-powered vehicles but you SHOULD expect to see:
Awesome Quilts: The Amish are really, really good at hand-made crafts and quilts are one of their best. Come with cash in hand to purchase a handmade masterpiece that you can use to keep warm or hang on the wall if you choose – they can run in the hundreds of dollars depending on design.
Baked Goods: The Amish have a way with bread so stop by one of the many local bakeries in Lancaster County and try a fresh loaf or even a cinnamon bun. There are delicacies to be had here made with love you can’t find anywhere else!
Local Music: It’s interesting to see how beautiful music can be when it doesn’t come out of an electric guitar! The Amish have all types of handmade instruments and beautiful, classical pieces as wellexpand your mind here in Lancaster!

Lancaster County has a lot to offer. The family is the center of their lifestyle and they are very religious.

There are many places that you can see in the small towns and farmland of Lancaster county. I would first recommend the Amish Farm and House. You will have a chance to learn the culture of Lancaster County’s Old Order Amish. You can also tour the fifteen acre farm that exhibits a tobacco stripping room and a blacksmith shop.

Another highlight will be the Amish buggy rides. When you ride in the buggy you will have a chance to view the oldest Amish community. You can stop to shop for crafts, quilts, and baked goods.

You will not want to miss touring the Amish Village. You can tour a 1840′s Amish farm house and see the twelve acre village grounds. Make sure you have the Amish lessons and see the one-room schoolhouse.

A highlight of your trip will be the Amish Experiment Theater. The story is Jacob’s Choice. Enjoy the scenes from Amish history. Discover how the Amish young people are given a choice to stay in the Amish church, or to go elsewhere and become English.

Lastly, stop and see George’s Woodcrafts. The furniture is handcrafted in solid walnut, cherry and oak. Some furniture is ready to buy but you can have some special ordered.Keep looking, there’s more: Do What in the Amish Country?

Amish country is an awesome place to visit. The smell of freshly baking bread and the pastries are decadent. The area hosts a great deal of history and culture from the Amish and Mennonite people. This high tourist area is home to some of the best food around. The Amish have perfected cooking and their old fashioned methods have melt in your mouth results.

One of the best restaurants in the area is the Arthur’s Terrace Restaurant. This place has been a local hot spot for years. When you first step into Arthur’s, you will be greeted with warm dcor and an inviting color scheme. The food is some of the highest quality in Lancaster County. There is a high quality buffet from Mon-Fri 6:30am-10:30am and from 7:00am-11:00am on Saturday and Sunday. With an award-winning chef, creating masterpieces likes, pasta and chicken entrees along with decadent seafood, no wonder they pack the house. It is a pleasurable palette experience from start to finish. If you are one who is watching their figure, they have a whole portion of the menu dedicated to the lighter side. Do not forget to save room for dessert as they serve authentic Amish pies and cakes, which are rich and creamy. The hits keep comin’: Do What in the Amish Country?
