Lancaster County has a lot to offer. The family is the center of their lifestyle and they are very religious.
There are many places that you can see in the small towns and farmland of Lancaster county. I would first recommend the Amish Farm and House. You will have a chance to learn the culture of Lancaster County’s Old Order Amish. You can also tour the fifteen acre farm that exhibits a tobacco stripping room and a blacksmith shop.
Another highlight will be the Amish buggy rides. When you ride in the buggy you will have a chance to view the oldest Amish community. You can stop to shop for crafts, quilts, and baked goods.
You will not want to miss touring the Amish Village. You can tour a 1840′s Amish farm house and see the twelve acre village grounds. Make sure you have the Amish lessons and see the one-room schoolhouse.
A highlight of your trip will be the Amish Experiment Theater. The story is Jacob’s Choice. Enjoy the scenes from Amish history. Discover how the Amish young people are given a choice to stay in the Amish church, or to go elsewhere and become English.
Lastly, stop and see George’s Woodcrafts. The furniture is handcrafted in solid walnut, cherry and oak. Some furniture is ready to buy but you can have some special ordered.Keep looking, there’s more: Do What in the Amish Country?
